Overview

The Royal Bardia National Park:

The Royal Bardia National Park, spanning an area of 968 square kilometers in the mid-far Western region of Nepal, is a true gem of biodiversity and natural beauty. Dominated by thick sal forests (Shorea robusta), this park offers a sanctuary for a wide variety of wildlife.

Established in 1997, a significant portion of the park, covering 327 square kilometers, was designated as a buffer zone to further protect the park's ecosystem. This buffer zone serves as an additional habitat for many species and contributes to the overall conservation efforts in the region.

Within the confines of the Royal Bardia National Park, visitors can encounter a rich diversity of wildlife, including blue bulls, deer (such as Chital, Hog Deer, Sambhar Deer, Swamp Deer, Barasingha Deer, and Barking Deer), wild boars, langur and rhesus monkeys, civets, hyenas, jackals, sloth bears, otters, tigers, rhinoceros, mongoose, wild elephants, black buck, the gharial and marsh mugger crocodiles, and even the Gangetic dolphin.

Bird enthusiasts will also find themselves in paradise, with opportunities to spot exotic species like the Bengal florican, silver-eared mesia, lesser florican, and the sarus crane, among many others.

Visitors to the Royal Bardia National Park can partake in a variety of activities to fully immerse themselves in the wilderness experience. These include thrilling elephant safaris, bird watching expeditions, rafting along the Karnali River, and immersive village tours that offer insights into local culture and traditions. A visit to the crocodile breeding center provides a unique opportunity to learn about conservation efforts for these fascinating reptiles.
